Kochi, May 28: The brilliance in the innovative ideas of the state’s youth came to the fore at Kerala Innovation Week, as the May 22-28 event concluded by giving the new generation a string of tips that can enrich their entrepreneurial spirit along with penchant for technology.

While a ‘Creator’s Summit’ was among the key sessions on Saturday, the venue at Technology Innovation Zone in Kalamassery saw experts in digital science discuss trends.

What began last Sunday with a dawn-time cycle safari paved the way for students to display their imaginative products. Simultaneously, a line-up of stalls on KSUM’s RINK (Research Innovation Network Kerala), acting as a bridge between research centres and the marketing potential of their products. The event, with participants totalling 10,000 overall, also facilitated Kerala’s investors an opportunity to virtually meet investors abroad to expand markets to western countries such as the United Kingdom and Canada.

While there were facilities to visit fablabs on the concluding day, the Innovation Week hosted a Makeathon where students showcased their innovative idea-backed prototypes, free training in robotics and display of design-3D-maker products, besides a fashion show, music night and a food festival.

The Innovation Week enabled students’ products to be put on display. Also the event hosted stalls on KSUM’s RINK (Research Innovation Network Kerala) that functions as a bridge between research centres and the marketing potential of their products. There will be facilities to visit fablabs, too, on Saturday.

Another highlight was a set of sessions for women to be taken deeper into technology-based job prospects. A panel discussion on ‘Why Hack? Innovate Her’, in association with multinational Ernst & Young, invited impressive response from the delegates.

Else, the Innovation Week featured 40-plus speakers, 30 stakeholders and 25-odd innovative idea communities. With programmes totalling 20, the event was conducted in association with Global Shapers Community, Kochi, as an initiative of World Economic Forum. The Week, aimed at enriching the state’s collaborative startup ecosystem to boost entrepreneurship, came as part of the state government’s effort to propel the economy with new-age technology.
