Thiruvananthapuram, June 07: In an elderly-friendly decision, Kerala Government has announced 50 per cent concession for senior citizens in entry fee in all state-run tourism centres.

The Government issued the orders in this regard today.

‘’This decision is part of elderly friendly policies across all sectors in the state. This will encourage the senior citizens to mix with the society and get relaxed after keeping indoors during the pandemic’’, Tourism Minister Shri P A Mohamed Riyas said today.

The decision follows the recommendation in this regard by the Committee on Welfare of Senior Citizens of the Kerala Legislature for the period 2016-19.

The Kozhikode Human Rights Forum had made a submission before the Assembly Committee urging it to consider the possibility of giving concession in entry fee for senior citizens in tourism centres. After studying the submission, the house panel recommended the Government that the request could be considered positively.
