Milma’s Kollam dairy begins supply of Smart Curd, Milma Rich

Kollam, Aug. 16:  Kollam Dairy under Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union of Milma (TRCMPU-Milma) today began sale of Milma Rich milk and Smart Curd as part of increasing the product range of the dairy.

 

TRMPU also started the sale of Milma products through the online food ordering and delivery platform Swiggy.

Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Smt J Chinchurani inaugurated the launch of ‘Milma Rich’ milk and ‘Smart Curd’ from Kollam Dairy and the sale of Milma products through Swiggy at a function at the Press Club here.

Hotel and Restaurant Association District President Shri R Chandrasekharan received the products from the Minister.

Speaking on the occasion, Smt Chinchurani said the government is duty-bound to help dairy farmers and the project for providing milk subsidy to the bank accounts of farmers will be implemented soon.

Noting that the government has envisaged a number of projects to encourage dairy farming, she said loans on attractive terms have been made available for farmers and there is significant increase in milk production compared to previous years.

“Milma is also able to supply sufficient quantity of milk to schools and anganvadis for children’s consumption,” Smt Chinchurani said.

Corporation Mayor Smt Prasanna Earnest, who presided over the function, said in order to scale up the sale of Milma products, the construction of four new Milma stalls is underway in the city.  

TRCMPU Administrative Committee Convenor Shri N Bhasurangan said the regional union is making elaborate arrangements for the sale of Milma products to meet the Onam season demand.

He said attractive incentives will be given to agencies to encourage sale and this year TRCMPU is expecting to surpass last year’s record Onam sale.

TRCMPU Administrative Committee Member Shri K.R. Mohanan Pillai and Kollam and Dairy Senior Manager Dr R K Samuel were also present.

The 500 ml Milma Rich milk that contains 4.5 percent fat and 8.5 percent non-fat solids is priced at Rs 26. More cups of tea and coffee can be made with a little quantity of milk from Milma Rich, which is also useful for making sweets and dessert tastier.

The Smart Curd, which contains 1.5 percent fat and 10 percent non-fat solids, gives better taste and quality. The 500gm sachet of curd is priced at Rs 32.
