Thiruvananthapuram, Sept 29: The Government will consider renovating the 1931-built Moidu Bridge in Dharmadom Assembly constituency in Kannur district and throwing it open for tourists considering its historical value, Tourism and Public Works Minister Shri P A Mohamed Riyas said today.

After visiting the bridge built during the British colonial rule, Shri Riyas said the old bridge is nearly abandoned for traffic after a new one came up on the National Highway between Thalassery and Kannur. By giving a face lift to the historic structure it could become part of the Dharmadom and Muzhappilangad beaches and heritage tourism project.

The location where the old bridge stands comes under the Dharmadom constituency, represented by Chief Minister Shri Pinarayi Vijayan in the State Assembly.
